The University of British Columbia (UBC), established in 1908, is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban metropolis of Vancouver, British Columbia. It has a branch campus in Kelowna. Affiliated with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills of British Columbia, it is a very large institution with over 50,000 students. UBC offers numerous courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees from pre-bachelor's through to doctorate degrees across several study disciplines. Admissions are based on entrance examinations and students' past academic records and grades, with an acceptance rate of 40-49%. International students can apply. UBC also provides several facilities and services like a library, housing, financial aids, sports facilities, study abroad programs, online courses, distance learning opportunities, and administrative services.
